From Farm to Cup: A Journey Through the World of Coffee

Our first-year CHTM students participated in the Farm to Cup Seminar from July 6 to 11, 2026, held at Philippine Nazarene College, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet, where they immersed themselves in an enriching learning experience that deepened their appreciation for one of the world’s most beloved beverages.

Throughout the seminar, students explored the complete journey of coffeeโ€”from its cultivation and harvesting to the processing of coffee cherries into quality coffee beans. They also gained hands-on experience in traditional manual brewing methods, learned the fundamentals of espresso-based beverages such as cafรฉ latte, and discovered the importance of proper coffee preparation, extraction, and presentation.

The seminar also introduced students to coffee quality evaluation, sustainable coffee farming practices, flavor profiling, proper equipment handling, beverage presentation, customer service standards, and the growing significance of coffee culture in the hospitality and tourism industry.

This immersive experience enabled our future hospitality professionals to hone essential skills in beverage preparation, precision, attention to detail, communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and service excellence. More importantly, it strengthened their understanding of the farm-to-cup value chain, fostering a deeper appreciation for local coffee producers, sustainable practices, and the craftsmanship behind every cup of coffee.

At CHTM, we remain committed to providing experiential learning opportunities that cultivate competent, innovative, and globally competitive hospitality professionals.
