Empowering Local Entrepreneurs Through Strategic Business Plans

The University of the Cordilleras strengthened community development efforts in August 2024 through the work of thirteen PhD Management students who created six strategic business plans for enterprises across Northern Luzon. In partnership with Project HELEN and the UC CBA Community Extension Office, the students conducted business diagnostics, market studies, field visits, and financial assessments to help local enterprises enhance competitiveness and long-term sustainability.
Women-led groups such as Weaving, Arts, and Craft of Tublay (WACOT) and Farmerโs Daughter received tailored support that helped preserve cultural heritage and expand community livelihoods. Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the plans, which now serve as practical guides for operational improvement and organizational growth.

Innovative Housing Designs for More Accessible Communities

UC Architecture students showcased excellence in the Cordillera 4PH Design Competition held during National Shelter Month. With nine proposals submitted and four major awards secured, the students demonstrated their ability to design housing solutions that are climate resilient, culturally rooted, and adaptable to urban density.
The first-place design will be considered for implementation in Conner, Apayao. This achievement reflects UCโs continued work with local authorities to address planning issues and community development needs, including ensuring that local residents are able to access affordable and sustainable housing.
