On February 14, 2026, the University of the Cordilleras Gym was transformed into a vibrant center of artistry and connection as 30 accredited student organizations gathered for the “Light Up UC Gym” Valentine’s Celebration. Our department, the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, achieved a significant milestone by winning the Most Interactive Booth award in collaboration with UC Mechatronics. This recognition reflects our students’ ability to blend the warmth of hospitality with technical innovation, creating an engaging space that truly resonated with the university community.

Organized by the Student Affairs Services through the Student Development and Welfare Center, the event was designed to be more than just a holiday celebration. It served as a vital platform for promoting student well-being, sustainability, and the power of campus partnerships. By encouraging creative excellence across various academic disciplines, the initiative underscored the importance of a holistic educational experience that values both social connection and environmental consciousness.
As we reflect on this success, it is important to recognize how these activities align with our institutional commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The focus on mental health and social engagement directly supports SDG 3, which advocates for Good Health and Well-being. Additionally, the emphasis on eco-friendly booth designs and sustainable products champions SDG 12, focused on Responsible Consumption and Production. The collaborative spirit between CHTM and UC Mechatronics also perfectly illustrated SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, proving that interdisciplinary cooperation is key to achieving impactful results.
We also wish to congratulate our peers who contributed to the success of the day. The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountancy (UC Chapter) earned the Most Creative Booth, while the UC Youth and Adolescent Sexuality and Reproductive Health Hub received the People’s Choice Award. In the Best Booth category, top honors went to the College of Accountancy (CSC), followed by the College of Business Administration (CSC) and the UC Peer Facilitators. This collective effort highlights the incredible talent within our university and reinforces CHTM’s role in fostering a sustainable and inclusive campus culture.
