University of the Cordilleras – College of Hospitality and Tourism Management held its HATCH Event Kick-off on January 14, 2025, a dynamic gathering designed to ignite passion in research among its students. Held at the UC Auditorium and attended by 189 UC-CHTM Research Students, the event aimed to boost the exciting world of research to third-year students enrolled in research, business modeling and simulation, and product development courses.

The event’s highlight was an admirable presentation by Dr. Jenny H. Panchal, senior lecturer from James Cook University, Australia. With her compelling enthusiasm, Dr. Panchal guided students through the intricacies of successful research project management. She emphasized the critical importance of effective time management, not just as a matter of discipline, but as a strategic tool for maximizing productivity and minimizing stress. Dr. Panchal also shed light on the art of resource allocation, encouraging students to think creatively and strategically about leveraging available resources to achieve their research goals.

Following Dr. Panchal’s insightful talk, a lively open forum ensued, transforming the auditorium into a hub of intellectual exchange, making the event a two-way lecture. The students eagerly engaged with Dr. Panchal and faculty members, asking insightful questions and sharing their initial research ideas. This interactive session provides students with valuable feedback and fosters a sense of community among aspiring researchers.

The event undoubtedly achieved its objective of scaling up research to third-year students.
