UC CHTM achieved remarkable success at the Y4TH International Conference held on November 16, 2024, at Bahay ng Alumni, UP Diliman. This year’s theme, Tourism for Peace, Cross-Cultural Understanding, and Social Change, drew participation from over 30 schools nationwide, with more than 65 competition entries vying for the top spots. CHTM proudly secured 1st Runner-Up in the Tourism Start-Up Competition (TSUC), Top 7 in the Research Infographics Poster Presentation (RIPP), and Top 6 in the Travel Brochure Making Competition (TBMC).
In the Tourism Start-Up Competition, the team of Ms. Mary Jennifer Moltio, Ms. Shania Olipane, Ms. Junio Jeankieth Cariño, Ms. Zeira Tamayo, and Mr. Josh Ravel Sawal won 1st Runner-Up with their innovative TUKLAS App. This gamified digital platform aims to boost tourism visibility in local villages, fostering sustainability and equitable income sharing. Through interactive quests and a rewards system, TUKLAS provides an engaging and immersive experience while promoting self-sufficient tourism.
For the Research Infographics Poster Presentation, CHTM’s entry, Project S.A.K.S.I.: Promotion of Baguio City’s Dark Tourism Heritage Using Gamified Augmented Reality, earned a spot in the Top 7. Designed by Ms. Nicole Palaylay, Mr. Saleem Abdullah, Ms. Liezel Abegail Tayoan, Ms. Mikylla Palma, and Ms. Ahrabhela Dacoco, the infographic used a dark, vintage-inspired design with bold typography, muted colors, and graphic elements to reflect the theme of dark tourism. Key features like augmented reality and gamification were highlighted through charts, icons, and flowcharts, effectively showcasing the innovative promotion of Baguio’s dark tourism heritage.
Meanwhile, the team of Ms. Marcela Bagorio, Ms. Ricsan Erica Bautista, and Ms. Jayme Matutina earned Top 6 in the Travel Brochure Making Competition. Their brochure, which featured Agusan del Sur, blended vibrant visuals with organized sections to highlight the province’s attractions, cultural heritage, and eco-adventures. Practical travel tips and interactive QR codes were seamlessly integrated, creating an informative and visually engaging tourism guide.
UC CHTM’s impressive performance at the Y4TH International Conference highlights the creativity, innovation, and dedication of its students in addressing modern tourism challenges. These achievements reflect the college’s commitment to fostering talent and leadership in shaping the future of the tourism and hospitality industry.
