From February 3, 2024 to March 3, 2024, students enrolled in EM 151, EM 152, EM 154, and EM 155 embarked on a transformative journey into the heart of event management. Their destination? The Baguio Flower Festival Foundation, Inc. This immersion aimed to provide these budding tourism professionals with firsthand experience in orchestrating a large-scale event, exposing them to the intricate processes involved in bringing a festival to life.
As the students arrived in BFFFI, they were greeted by the vibrant atmosphere of the Flower Festival. From the bustling streets to the colorful array of floral displays, the city was alive with excitement. Their immersion began with an introduction to the festival’s organizing committee, where they were briefed on their roles and responsibilities throughout the month-long event.
From the outset, the students were fully immersed in every aspect of event management. They played pivotal roles in the setup, execution, and dismantling of various festival activities. Whether it was coordinating parade routes, organizing exhibitions, or overseeing pocket events, they were the driving force behind the festival’s success.
Throughout their immersion, the students emerged as leaders within the festival’s core team. With guidance from seasoned professionals, they learned to navigate the challenges of event management with confidence and poise. From delegating tasks to problem-solving on the fly, they proved themselves capable of handling the demands of the industry.
As the festival drew to a close, the students reflected on their journey with a sense of accomplishment. They had not only gained valuable hands-on experience but had also forged lasting connections within the industry. From overcoming logistical hurdles to witnessing the joy on attendees’ faces, each moment had been a lesson in the power of effective event management.
The Event Management Immersion at the Baguio Flower Festival was more than just a learning experience; it was a journey of growth and discovery for the students involved. As they bid farewell to BFFFI, they carried with them not only memories of a vibrant festival but also the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the dynamic world of event management.
